Our story
Ecocare began with a bold idea: Australia should be able to make its own paper straws. After two years of research and testing, we opened our first factory in Melbourne in 2021. We made solid, water-resistant paper straws that could compete head-to-head with imports.
From day one, Ecocare was about more than a product. We wanted to show that manufacturing could come home, creating local jobs and reducing Australia’s reliance on overseas supply. Our first straws were made in Victoria, by locals, for locals.
Growing up, not moving away
In 2025 we opened our manufacturing plant in Vietnam, owned and run by the same people behind Ecocare Australia, and production has since moved there. It gives us room to grow: more capacity, sharper pricing, and a wider range that now includes paper food containers and trays alongside our straws.
The standard hasn’t changed. The specifications, materials and quality checks we developed in Melbourne go into every order. Australia and New Zealand are still the heart of our business.

Our straws are made from 3–4 ply premium paper and are:
- Strong when wet, so they hold up in your drinks
- Made from natural, renewable paper fibres
- A practical swap for single-use plastic straws
